DESCRIPTION:
CBS News is accepting applications for a spring internship in the LA Bureau. The LA Bureau covers news stories in the west coast region of the US for network news. Intern duties include assisting producers and correspondents for The CBS Evening News, CBS This Morning, Weekend News, CBS Sunday Morning and other CBS News programs. Interns will do research, help set up stories, conduct preliminary interviews, assist during shoots, select footage, log tape, attend press conferences and do other various tasks. CBS News will compensate each student an hourly wage. CBS News does not require students to receive college credit. Students are solely responsible for coordinating and meeting the credit requirements of their college/university.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a 4-year university. Students majoring in journalism, broadcasting or communications are preferred, but those majoring in public relations, marketing, advertising, English, history, international studies and political science are welcome to apply and will be considered. Participants must be good researchers, self-starters, ambitious, have good writing and verbal communication skills, have excellent computer skills and must be knowledgeable of national and international current events,. A 3.0 GPA or above is recommended. Students must be available to work at least 20 hours a week in LA from January 7 - May 10.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
